Federal 2009/2010 Tax Credit Info

Did you miss out on the Home Buyer Credit? If so you have another chance!

Current Homeowner Credit Details:

* Expands the credit so that up to $6,500 will be givien to current home owners purchasing a new or existing home between November 7th 2009 and April 30th 2010.

* Current home owners purchasing a home between November 7th 2009 and April 30th 2010, who have used the home being sold or vacated as a principal residence for five consecutive years within the last eight.

* Credit may only be awarded on homes purchased for $800,000 or less.

First Time Home Credit Details:

* Extends the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit of up to $8,000 to first-time home buyer until April 30th 2010.

* Up to $8,000 will be given to purchaser(s) of a home.

* Purchase can be any residential property.

* Purchaser receives tax credit when tax return or tax addendum is filed.

* Full amount of credit available for individuals who do not exceed the income limitations.

Under the Extended Home Buyer Tax Credit, as long as a written binding contract to purchase is in effect on April 30th 2010, the purchaser will have until July 1st 2010 to close. The buyer does not have to repay the tax credit, if he or she occupies the home for three years or more. If the property is sold during this three year period, the full amount of the tax credit will be recouped on the sale.
